I saw a link to this off of somebody's journal, -taps chin and wonders whose- and really wanted to join.

I haven't seen any broadway shows, -cries-, but I'd love to one day.
I know when I was really little my mother took me to see Toy Story on ice, but thats no the same.

Well, awhile back I had fallen in love with the Finding Nemo show, and wanted to go. Not being able to, I had found images instead.
Made icons out of them, to! :)

So, here's a few icons I made, to give my first post to the community some meaning. ;)

'Broadway-Quality'? [Jul. 22nd, 2007|06:23 am]
Disney On Broadway

One last post from the maintainer

Before someone asks, what I mean by 'Broadway-quality' is, well, something that is just the same quality as the shows right in New York..

Past Disney parks musicals, like Snow White (at the former fantasyland theater in disneyland), Aladdin (at the hyperion in disney's california adventure) and Finding Nemo (a new suprise hit at theater in the wild in disney's animal kingdom) are great examples of this because there's many Broadway elements to them, from costume design and other features.

An example of what's not in Broadway style would be, well, Animazement, which was before Snow White came in.
If the show has characters dressed much like the others in the park that walk and sign autographs, it's not the same.

Hope that straightens that out a bit..

(though, the official disney on broadway site includes 'high school musical on tour' as a feature, so i placed that, 'high school musical', as a tag, despite me not being sure if that's too much of a 'broadway quality'..)

OK, quick community update:

I was managing the tags, and decided to add 'Fanart'.
though, I'm not sure what kinds of fanart can be associated with the Disney stage shows..

I suppose if you just saw a show and decided to draw something after the show, you could post that..

But I know a popular 'fanart' would be icons, so that now has a tag.

now, Something 'fan-generated' I hope to see is karaoke. i have to admit, I have moments that I want to belt out something from the shows after watching them, and if there's any brave souls out there who wish to record and share online their musical capability, we now have a tag for that.

And a quick explination for a few tags:
'tours' is for the musicals Disney tends to tour nation, or even world wide..
To counter that, 'broadway' tag was just created.

'question' is basically anything you want to ask the community. From open questions, to any help you need, like "What do you think of..." or "Can you suggest a hotel/restaurant near..."
For questions specifically for help, a 'help tag has just been created..

'community' is for posts like this, which is basically talking about the community itself. Generally for maintainer(s), but if you have something to say about the community, you're open to use it.

'merchandise' is for any merch relating to the shows. This also extends to any soundtracks/original cast recordings.

'welcome message' is not just for the first post here in the community, but for any new member who joined and wishes to say hello.

But if you also want to share your experience with any of the shows, use the 'experiences' tag.

And each show, from Broadway to the parks, has an appropriate tag (names of tag do not include the word 'the' at the begining or have a subtitle, like 'musical')..

overall, Check the tags, and if you have a tag suggestion, please comment!

The Final Bow [Jul. 22nd, 2007|05:12 am]
Disney On Broadway

As some of you may know, after 13 great years, Beauty and the Beast on Broadway will close in just a week on July 29th..

Just wondering if anyone will be making the last several shows, or even the final bow.

When Disney announced that they were going to close the show to make way for The Little Mermaid, I was happy that I made that last-minute desicion to go to the show last summer on my first trip to New York..

For the big list of Belles, and the cast and crew over the past 13 years, I would like to say thanks and that I will miss the show as it leaves, but it will still leave quite a legacy for enchanting New York with it's magic back from 1994..
again, Thanks..

For additional info, check out the official site, or even the Wikipedia entry..

A Warm Welcome [Jul. 22nd, 2007|04:24 am]
Disney On Broadway

To all who come to this happy place,

For years, Disney has been dazzling audiences with their magic, and here in this LiveJournal community do I hope the magic spreads, where you can share your experiences and thoughts on the Disney Theatrical Productions, as well as other topics relating to the community, such as news.

On this community, you can talk about the Broadway adaptations of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Tarzan, and The Little Mermaid. Even other, lesser known productions like the stage adaptation of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame that was in Germany, the long forgotten Adia, or the traveling jukebox musical On the Record.

But this community also extends to the Disney parks, which offer Broadway-quality shows such as the now-gone Snow White musical at Disneyland, the Aladdin musical at Disney's California Adventure, or the new Finding Nemo musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

From enthusiasts and those following the cast of the stage shows, to those who just love the musicals from one visit, everyone is welcome, but there's only one rule in this community:

Have fun

but also keep in mind that this community is best maintained as a 'family friendly' community, so please keep all posts appropriate

Thank you.
